Laois Auto Cross 19/20th Sept

Saturday

Castle Automobile Club members headed down to Mountmellick for the last event in the National Championship Calendar for 2009.

Darragh Smith was first away on Saturday afternoon with a time of 2.18sec leaving him second after the first run. On the second run Darragh put in a time of 2.07sec putting him into the lead. Where he stayed for the last run and won his class 5B on Saturday.

Eythan Kellett was next away and put in a time of 1.57sec on the first run. 2.01  was as good as Eythan could do on the second run after an overshoot and 1.56 on run 3 giving him first in class 5A and 2nd Saloon car overall.

Sunday

With the team changed for Sunday's run and the sun shining Darragh Smith set a time of 1.52 sec narrowly beating into 3rd place by less than a second. As the field cut up the times got slower and Darragh's first run was good enough to take 3rd in Class 5B. with no problems all weekend.

Eythan was next away on Sunday setting a time of 1.43 sec closely followed by Championship Rival James Cummins at 1.44 again with the track cut up that was to be their best times. Good enough to Eythan a Class 5A win and 3rd overall All Saloon.

With the National Championship in Class 5A still to be decided in Laois, Eythan started Saturday's run 6 points ahead of James Currims from Carrickonsuir and finishing Sunday's run 10 points ahead. Giving him first in Class 5A in the Championship.

Well done to Laois Rally Sport Claub for putting on a great event both days.
